My name is James Yazell and I’m currently a Postulant for Holy Orders in the Episcopal Church. I’m enrolled in the Master of Divinity program from the School of Theology at the University of the South. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. I am also a provisional member (seminarian) of the North American Society of Catholic Priests and an Oblate-in-Training with the Community of Saint Mary, Southern Province. I am married to Kelsey Leftwich-Yazell, a web applications developer, and we have two dogs, a shepherd mix and a puggle.
Growing up I attended various baptist, non-denominational, and reformed churches. Studying the Early Church lead me to Roman Catholicism in high school. In college I found I disagreed with many Catholic positions but found in Anglicanism the perfect balance of grounded theology in the ancient, catholic faith while allowing for a diversity of opinion in non-essentials.
This blog is for gathering my thoughts on various topics related to philosophy, theology, and the Church.
